Bicycle World is proud to announce our partnership with the Texas Interscholastic Mountain Bike League for the 2017 season. For the uninitiated, the TIMBL is the Texas arm of the rapidly expanding NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) movement. That’s a lot of acronyms, we know, but the gist of it is that this is an organization working with high school and middle school athletes.
The five race Texas series sees high school and regional groups competing for points. This point style judging, as well as the social aspect (many riders camp out at the event the night before race day) gives NICA races a team sports feel that is sometimes missing from traditional bike racing. We jumped at the opportunity to sponsor this group, and as anyone who’s been to a TIMBL race will tell you, they're a blast.
With various clinics throughout the year, such as the upcoming Texas League Fall Camp featuring instruction from former National Champions Todd Wells and Georgia Gould, to trail maintenance and advocacy, the TIMBL is helping to grow a new generation of young riders.
We dig that.
